Remembering The Unsung Heroes

KUCHING – For members of the National Malaya and Borneo Veterans Associations of Australia and New Zealand (NMBVA) its annual “home coming” to Sarawak will always be a day to look forward as they will gather together at Heroes’ Cemetery at Jalan Taman Budaya here to remember their fallen comrades.

This year, the veterans were accompanied by their families and friends for a return visit on August 29 and held a solemn gathering at the Heroes Cemetery here.

It was an occasion to remember their fallen comrades who laid down their lives during the confrontation with Indonesia (1963 – 1966) and solemnly placed commemorative plaque as a tribute of their sacrifice.

Also present to commemorate this event  were the  Minister of Transport, Datuk Lee Kim Shin, High Commissioner of Australia, Excellency  Andrew Goledzinowski and High Commissioner of New Zealand, Excellency Hunter Nottage,
