Celebrating Kuching’s 31st Anniversary

KUCHING – More than three decade of achieving its’ city status, Kuching, the City of Unity, is unique with its vibrant and multicultural races that live together in  harmony.

With this year’s theme “Empowering Smart Community” sees the revolving of Kuching in olden days to a modern setting with changes throughout the 31 years, the celebration centers around culture, living heritage, food and festival.

The Council of the Kuching South and Kuching North City Halls are jointly hosting a month- long activities, including the Kuching Festival Food Fair (July 26 – August 16), Kuching Got Talent, Silat competition at Kampung Sourabaya Waterfront (August 3-4), Angling competition at Kampung Senari Jetty (August 17) and an ‘Uptown Cat Exhibition’ at the Cat Museum in DBKU Complex (August 17),

A badminton tournament at Datuk Seri Haji Wan Junaidi Hall in Kampung Goebilt (August 18), a Muaythai championship at the Amphitheatre (August 24), and the ‘BandarayaKU Walk’ across Kampung Bintangor Besar Bridge (August 31) will also be on the list of activities to be organised in and around the city during the celebration.

Kuching attained its City status on August 1, 1988.
